Install with the CLI

In a terminal, from the folder you want:

npx --yes palatekit@latest install motion-project-pricing

With no option, the skill goes to ~/.agents/skills/; add --agent claude-code (or codex, cursor…) to target an agent.

First time: connect the CLI with

npx --yes palatekit@latest login

The agent picks the pricing model (day rate, fixed fee, per finished minute, value-based), works out your day rate from realistically billable days, then estimates days by walking through the cost drivers. It produces a line-itemed quote with capped revisions, rush and usage uplifts, payment terms and exclusions. You get a defensible number and the reasoning behind it.

What you get

  • SKILL.md: decision tree, day-rate math, cost drivers, quote template, common mistakes

  • references/worked-example.md and rate-card.md: complete worked estimate and 2026 rate ranges

Good fit for

  • Answering a quote request for an animated video or a logo sting
  • Setting or revisiting your freelance day rate
  • Checking that an existing quote is not underpriced

Not for

  • Pricing projects unrelated to animation (development, copywriting)
  • Getting guaranteed market prices: the ranges are Western anchors to localize

Frequently asked questions

Are amounts in euros?

The examples in the text use pounds sterling and the ranges are indicative. Give the agent your currency and rate so it adapts the math.

Should I show the day breakdown to the client?

No. The method recommends presenting a fixed price and keeping the day math internal, unless you bill by the day.
