Install with the CLI

In a terminal, from the folder you want:

npx --yes palatekit@latest install ui-motion-principles

With no option, the skill goes to ~/.agents/skills/; add --agent claude-code (or codex, cursor…) to target an agent.

First time: connect the CLI with

npx --yes palatekit@latest login

The agent detects the mode (create or audit), weighs the three approaches for the type of project, then applies a frequency gate: the more often an action repeats, the less it animates. In audit mode it flags generic AI-style motion and writes an HTML report with looping demos. Reduced-motion support is mandatory in both modes.

What you get

  • SKILL.md: mode detection, weighting by project type, frequency rule, durations
  • workflows/create.md and workflows/audit.md: the two detailed paths
  • references/: motion recipes, creation pitfalls, audit checklists, accessibility and performance
  • references/: one note per designer, an HTML report template and its demo card shell

Good fit for

  • Adding motion to a showcase site or launch page without overloading it
  • Reviewing an existing site's animations and justifying what to remove
  • Choosing a motion approach for a product, a portfolio or a kids' app

Not for

  • Producing a motion design video: the skill covers interface motion
  • Game engines, Lottie or Rive, where the designers' techniques do not always carry over
  • A page with no interface code to modify

Frequently asked questions

Did the three designers approve the skill?

No. It draws on their published work and says so itself: the interpretation is the skill's own, without the designers' endorsement.

Do I need a specific framework?

No. It covers HTML, CSS, React and Framer Motion, with recipes provided in the reference files.
