Does the title work on a light background?

The default cyan suits dark backgrounds. On a light background the file recommends a darker cyan, for example #0f7d8a.

Can I turn off the fringe effect?

Yes, set prism.enabled to false in CONFIG. The bow and the breathing are turned off the same way with bow.enabled and drift.
