Install with the CLI

In a terminal, from the folder you want:

npx --yes palatekit@latest install plain-english-content

With no option, the skill goes to ~/.agents/skills/; add --agent claude-code (or codex, cursor…) to target an agent.

First time: connect the CLI with

npx --yes palatekit@latest login

The agent applies the GOV.UK approach: key point first, active voice, short sentences, everyday words and plain formatting. You get a more readable text that keeps its precision.

Frequently asked questions

Why no bold or italics?

It is a rule of the original approach: structure carries the emphasis. You can turn it off by saying so.

Does it change the meaning?

It aims to keep substance and nuance and only cut what makes reading hard.
